Give Mia GIVEAWAY! Round 2!

Well this is really hard to believe because time just seems to fly by so fast anymore....but in just a few short weeks I will be celebrating the 1-year anniversary of Give Mia Cookie.

It all started with the idea of making cookies for my own baby shower back in 2010.  It became my mission to start learning all about the cookie decorating world so that I could make something presentable enough to give as favors at my shower.  I was a pregnant lady on a mission....there was no stopping me. Rob bought me my first set of cookie cutters when we were at lake Chautauqua that summer.  It was a set of plastic Wilton animal cookie cutters...he bought me the entire set of 50 cutters just so I could have the 1 that I needed, the lamb.  What a great husband.

It's all pretty much a blur since then....except for a few snippets here and there.  I remember getting a set of 8 food colorings for Christmas (thanks to my awesome cuz, Sarah) and I remember thinking that it was such an awesome gift...one that I'll never forget because it was the start of my collection. I remember making Steeler cookies very early on and omg, they were so awful-looking.  But at the time I thought they were so good.  I remember going to my favorite cookie supply-site to order cookie cutters and thinking that it was so awesome because they were only like $1 a piece and I planned to spend $50 to get free shipping. I mean, how often do you get to add 50+ items to an online shopping cart? It was really fun.  The true whirlwind started right after that.  The facebook page was launched on May 10, 2011 with 15 cookie pictures and I did my first order on May 18th.  I remember framing my first dollar bill and feeling really really proud.  Then came the blog, then came my first trade show, then came "the binder" that holds it all together, and now....

Hundreds of cups of sugar, many many teaspoons of vanilla, a crazy amount of pounds of flour, and thousands (thousands!) of cookies later, here I am.  My life has changed dramatically since one year ago in so many ways but the best change of all has been watching my daughter grow into this funny, talkative, curious, and smart little girl.  I say to Rob all the time that I can't believe that we actually get to keep her!!  It feels like a dream.

So back to business.... want some free cookies????  I'm doing a giveaway in honor of my 1-year anniversary and the prize is...Your choice!....either $10 off your next order of cookies or a free dozen sent to you during the first week of May (the design will remain a surprise!)  Friends....family....you're all eligible to win so please enter!

Let's talk numbers here....

This week I made 315 sugar cookies, 60 oatmeal raisin, 46 chocolate chip, 80 peanut butter, 36 snickerdoodles, and 30 thumbprints....not that I was counting or anything (see previous post about excessive counting).

Now I know that I've made these popcorn cookies before....but as I was making them this time I just couldn't help but keep a tally of the different step of the process....

80 popcorn cookies=
400 filled stripes of red/white icing
80 filled yellow circles
440 iced pieces of popcorn, each one carefully "buttered" (an average of 5.5 pieces of popcorn per cookie)
560 letters piped (640 if you count the hyphen)

I'm tired today.....but I've got some challenging things on the schedule for this week so I don't have long to rest....not to mention my 20 month old who wants to play Memory 322 times per day(I counted). Wish me luck!

Make sure to check out the facebook page to see all of the pictures of last week's cookies!

What a rock!

what a rock!
I'm pretty sure if this diamond was real it would be like 50 karats.  And I would totally own it if I had won the mega-millions last week.  Sigh...I'll just have to settle for the cookie version for now.

These cookies were really cute....they were used as a favor for a Friday night cocktail bridal shower.  Sounds like so much fun, right?  Cookies and cocktails...Now that's the kind of bridal shower that I'd wanna go to.

There were 100 of these rings.  In case you don't know my personality let me just let you in on a little secret.  I'm completely obsessive.  I count the cookies at every single stage of the process...multiple times during each stage.  I count them as I roll them out, I count them on the cookie sheets, I count them once they are on the cooling racks, I count them as I put them in storage containers, I count them after each stage of decorating, I count them once they are bagged, I count them once I've tied the ribbons, I count the stickers out BEFORE I put them on the bags, and then I count the bags once they are stickered.  I'm so scared that I'm going to lose cookies at some stage of the process....it's totally ridiculous because really....where are they going to disappear to?   I tried to do the final count before putting them in the carrying boxes (did I forget to mention the final count?) and these rings were seriously making me dizzy because I had looked at them for so long.  I kept getting different numbers in the final count and I was seriously losing my mind.  Rob had to come in and count them for me...and of course....they were all there.

So so many more cookies were made this week....it's a miracle that I survived.  Don't forget to check the facebook page for updated pictures!

Lots of fun stuff coming up in the next few weeks, too :)  Maybe another giveaway??  Stay tuned....

this picture was taken before they got the shimmer-dust treatment

shiny and pretty :)

so many cookies!
